The Public Safety Department (PSD) provides for the security and safety of the campus community. The PSD maintains a cooperative working relationship with the Phoenix Police Department and will request assistance as needed. The team of public safety officers at Phoenix College is committed to providing a professional service for the students, staff and guests who attend, work, or visit our teaching-learning community. We constantly strive to assure that our campus environment is safe, accessible, cheerful, and conducive to academic achievement
The Public Safety Officers serve the Phoenix College campus with pride and professionalism.
The primary role of Public Safety is to provide assistance and campus protection to students, employees and visitors. Other services provided include:
- Campus Incident Reporting
- Emergency Notification Procedures
- Managing Lost and Found Property
- Parking Decals
- Assistance with Disabled Vehicles
- Provide safety escorts to and from classrooms and parking lots upon request.

The department has a staff of three full-time and 11 part-time Public Safety Officers. Three (3) of the Public Safety Aides are certified police officers and therefore, are empowered with the authority to conduct investigations and make arrests.
Note: The Public Safety Director and all college police officers have full peace officer authority, including arrest authority under Arizona Revised Statutes (ARS) Title 13-3883 and as further defined by the Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training Board. The department's security officers have no arrest authority except those granted under ARS 13-3884.
