Raul Castro Institute Scholarship
A Commitment to Student Success
Thanks to advisory council member Dr. Jack August, the Raul H. Castro Institute is privileged to annually present Raul H. Castro Scholarship in Southwest Studies.
This prestigious scholarship celebrates the legacy of Governor Castro against the backdrop of an Arizona educational tradition, Phoenix College. Recipients of the Castro scholarship, known as “Castro Scholars,” demonstrate academic excellence in regional studies, including Southwest studies, history, and public policy, and commit to completing a four-year degree with a view to graduate school and/or professional school.
“Like many people, Governor Castro came from very humble beginnings,” notes Jack August, RCI advisory council member and author of Adversity is My Angel: The Life and Career of Raul H. Castro. “Higher education played a transformative role in the success he achieved and his ability to help others throughout his life.”
Contributions to this annual scholarship fund are accepted year round and are tax deductible. To contribute to this scholarship, contact Deborah Spotts in the Office of Alumni and Development at 602.285.7667 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
