American Indian Studies
American Indian Studies is one of three Academic Certificates under the Southwest Studies Program. The program offers a broad, interdisciplinary approach to the study of the peoples and places of the American Southwest, allowing students to expand their appreciation and understanding of Native American culture and history.
The American Indian Studies Certificate explores the unique experiences of the American Indian people living in the Southwest and provides students the opportunity to study the cultures, values, histories, and contemporary lives of the indigenous people of North America. The Certificate includes courses that investigate their language, literature, arts, philosophy, religions, and politics.
The American Indian Studies Certificate may be attained independently of any degree program, but students may also apply course credits toward a degree.
