"Athletic Training is practiced by athletic trainers, health care professionals who collaborate with physicians to optimize activity and participation of patients and clients. Athletic training encompasses the prevention, diagnosis, and intervention of emergency, acute, and chronic medical conditions involving impairment, functional limitations, and disabilities." — NATA
WELCOME TO PHOENIX COLLEGE ATHLETIC TRAINING
INTERESTED IN ATHLETIC TRAINING??
Phoenix College offers an opportunity for students who are interested in athletic training to get clinical experience and to take core classes. As a member of the sports medicine team, the student will assist the certified athletic trainers (ATCs) with practice and game coverage. Students will also observe the athletic trainers perform prevention, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. We also offer an athletic training course, HES 271 Prevention and Treatment of Athletic Injuries, and a hands on lab, HES 273. This program is used as a gateway to accredited athletic training programs (4 year programs) or to other health care professions. Students get a lot of hands on experience and learning. We have an application for those interested to fill out.
This is not an accredited program. It is a means for students to become an athletic trainer, you need to attend and complete an accredited 4-year program. Check out this website for more information: http://www.nata.org/students/
