Placement Tests

Testing is Free. We strongly encourage all students to take a sample placement test at www.phoenixcollege.edu/testing (view map). Testing is on a walk-in, first come/first served basis. The tests are three placement tests designed to identify your skill levels in English language usage, Reading, and Mathematics. These scores are used by you and an advisor to decide which courses to take. All students taking their first college level English, Reading or Mathematics courses, must complete these tests before they can register. Read through the student information guide prior to taking the test. Students will be permitted one re-test in English, Reading or Math level after a 24-hour waiting period. An additional re-test is permitted one year from the date of the student's original or re-test date. Course placement scores with the exception of reading exemption will be valid for two years from the date of the original or re-test assessment.

Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE)

If you are a resident of a WICHE state, you are eligible to request a reduced WUE tuition rate of 150% of the resident rate at one of the 145 participating schools in the West. Your residency alone does not guarantee you the WUE rate. Some colleges and universities also have additional criteria such as ACT/SAT test scores or high school GPA.

The WUE reduced tuition rate is not automatically awarded to all eligible candidates. Many institutions limit the number of new WUE awards each academic year, so apply early! Consult each institution’s profile for admissions requirements and application deadlines.
