Former Gov. Castro speaks to Aguila Students during Youth Symposium
Former Gov. Raul Castro shared his life story and some of his philosophies that enabled him to become Arizona’s governor from 1974 to 1977 with high school students attending the Aguila Youth Summer Symposium.
His appearance drew a positive response from the 200 young people attending the July 15 luncheon event at the A.E. England Building in downtown Phoenix. The student took pictures with the former governor after his talk, which was done in a Q&A format with moderator James Garcia, a local playwright and local communications professional.
The Aguila Youth Summer Leadership Symposium is a four-day event that helps prepare students for a successful college experience at top colleges around the nation. The symposium was hosted and held at Arizona State University’s downtown campus.
Ofelia Cañez, the new RCI director, is a former Advisory Board member to the Aguila Institute and was on hand at the governor’s presentation.
