PC Softball Standout Season

January 22, 2013

Phoenix College Softball won the 2012 NJCAA Division II National Championship last year, but that was not their only honor for the 2011-2012 season.  Along with the honor of being National Champions two other accolades were earned.

First, Head Coach Heinz Mueller earned his 1,000th win of his career with a win over Division I Yavapai College 7-5 in extra innings.  He is only the third NJCAA softball coach to earn this honor which also makes him the third-winningest coach in NJCAA softball history.  After his 1,000th win he earned 29 more included the National Championship.  His record currently reads 1029 wins to 393 losses in his career.

The Phoenix College Coaching Staff was also given another honor by the NFCA (National Fastpitch Coaching Association) as they were named the NFCA Coaching Staff of the Year.  The 2011-2012 Bears had an incredible season as they compiled a 57-16 overall record, won the Region I Division II Championship, and won their ninth National Championship.

Congrats Bears on an amazing 2011-2012 season!
