PC Judo Medals at North American Competition

Medals came home with all four Phoenix College Students competing at the 2013 North American Grappling Association Championships held on campus March 2. This competition draws some of the best wrestlers, judo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioners in the West.   

Luis Soto earned Gold in the Men’s Heavy Weight No Gi division and Gold in the Gi division. Kelly Grijalva took home a Silver in the Women’s Blue Belt division and a Gold in the Women’s Novice division. William “JR” Notah won a Silver in the Men’s Blue Belt division. Corbin Gerner scored a Bronze in the Men’s Light Weight division. 

“Thank you to my coaches Scott Decker, Bret Little and Anthony Enriquez for their countless hours in helping us become better athletes,” says Kelly Grijalva.

The Phoenix College Judo/ Jiu-Jitsu club is one of the fastest growing clubs on campus.  FYI -- Judo is the second most popular sport in the world; only soccer has more participants worldwide. Phoenix College has the student club and offers fitness classes to anyone who wants to learn this great martial art and sport.
