Bears’ Men’s Basketball ranked 17th in first NJCAA DII Poll of 2014

January 07, 2014

Team is one of two ACCAC men’s basketball squads ranked in NJCAA Top 25

Colorado Springs, CO – January 7, 2014 -- Phoenix College is proud to announce that the Bears’ Men’s Basketball team is ranked 17th in the latest NJCAA Division II Men’s Basketball Poll, which was released earlier today.  While the Bears slid five spots from their #12 national ranking in the final NJCAA Preseason Poll of 2013 released December 17th, they are the highest ranked men’s basketball representative from the ACCAC, and are one of just two ACCAC teams to be ranked in either the Division I or Division II Poll.  The Bears have also now been ranked in all 5 NJCAA Polls this season, marking the first time that’s happened since the 2009-10 season.  The Bears-who dropped a 72-71 heartbreaker to Eastern Arizona in their first conference game of 2014 last Saturday-will look to get back on the winning track when they hit the road tomorrow (Wednesday) to start a two-game road trip.  They’ll be in Coolidge to face Central Arizona-in a matchup of last year’s Region I Champion teams-as part of an ACCAC Men’s-Women’s Basketball doubleheader starting at 5:30PM, and fans can catch the action of the games on the Phoenix College Athletics’ website (www.phoenixcollege.edu/athletics).
