My educational philosophy and the way I teach all of my classes is very simple. Students learn mathematics best by doing. Students taking any of my mathematics classes will be actively engaged in the learning process by watching video lectures before attending class and then during class participating in whiteboard work in small groups. This learning environment allows me to give each and every one of of my students feedback on their mathematics notation and problem solving skills every time we meet for class. This in turn enables students get all of their questions answered while they are solving problems during class and then they are prepared to do their homework and assignments with a greater understanding of the material.
I have 23 years of teaching experience at the high school, community college and university level. I am a former collegiate volleyball player and former high school volleyball coach. I feel any type of athletics and any form of exercise is important for a healthy, happy and full life.
I am very interested in brain research and the best way for students to acquire and retain knowledge.
