Family Care Center
The Phoenix College Family Care Center provides services for Phoenix College students during the fall & spring semesters in alignment with the academic calendar. The Family Care Center is licensed through the Arizona Department of Health Services, Office of Child Care Licensure and has full accreditation through the National Academy of Early Childhood Programs, the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
The Center also collaborates with Southwest Human Development (SWHD) to offer a Head Start classroom at Phoenix College. The Head Start program is also licensed by the Arizona Department of Health Services, Office of Child Care Licensure. Please contact Southwest Head Start for more information about their program.
Although we collaborate with Southwest Human Development, the Phoenix College Family Care Center and Southwest Human Development's Head Start Program are two separate programs. Both programs are an instructional part of the Early Childhood Education & Administration Program.
The Family Care Center has two classrooms:
- Young Preschool for children who are 2 years old by the start of the semester
- Preschool for children 3 years old by the start of the semester, up to age 5 and not in kindergarten.
The Southwest Human Development's Head Start program is for children 3-5 years old.
Note: If your child is younger than 2 years old or needs care outside our operating hours, you might want to contact the Child Care Resource and Referral website. They are a statewide program in Arizona that helps families find child care.
Eligibility requirements necessary for the Family Care Center is based on age. Eligibility for the Southwest Head Start program is based on age and income.
