Letter to Community

Hello Bears!

Phoenix College is also one of the oldest community colleges in the country.  We will be celebrating our centennial anniversary in 2020, and I am honored to serve as the sixth president of Phoenix College. This is indeed an exciting time!

Located in the heart of the historic Encanto district, Phoenix College is distinct in that we are literally part of a neighborhood community.   Neighbors walk their dogs on the campus and attend our college campus events. The College is also conveniently located less than a 3 mile drive to downtown galleries, restaurants, and sporting arenas.

We’re proud of our history as well as where we are headed. With a campus made up of red brick buildings, our green-shaded campus has been modernized while maintaining the historic feel.  Take a tour of our newly renovated Physical Sciences Building.

Our focus on transformation includes seeking out partnerships that work with opportunity youth, refugee and immigrant populations, Hispanic, Asian, Native American populations and adult learners.

You are important to helping us with this mission. Because, when our community, gets involved — whether through mentoring students, donating to scholarships, or participating in events — we are making an impact on the future of this college!

As educational leaders and as faculty, we strive to stay connected with the students we teach and serve. We constantly challenge ourselves with the question: What more can we do to ensure that we’re providing equitable opportunities for all?

Your partnership in support of our students, employees, programs, and services is critical to our success, and we look forward to the next century of our work together.
