The medical field is comprised of more than doctors and nurses – it takes lab assistants, medical coders, and so much more. Phoenix College’s Health Professions, Fitness and Wellness department offers a variety of degrees, certificates, and courses in a wide range of medical field careers.
The department also operates the Phoenix College Fitness Center, which offers expert instruction and quality service to those enrolled. Whether you are new to exercise or looking to make changes in your current program, highly qualified instructors are always available to assist in helping you achieve your goals.
Health Care Core (HCC) courses are prerequisite courses for many of the healthcare programs. Students should see a Health Care Advisor in the Advisement Center prior to enrolling in any HCC (Health Care Core) course.
The Health Information Management program includes a combination of human science, computer, and health information courses that prepare students for employment in organizations such as hospitals, physician's offices and long-term care facilities.
The Histologic Technology program trains students to become histotechnicians and provide clinical support to pathologists and researchers.
The Massage Therapy Program is designed to provide the essential skills to become a bodywork practitioner. Students may go on to work as a licensed therapist in a spa, health club, medical clinic, or other exciting location.
The Medical Assisting program provides training in both the administrative duties of the front office and the clinical procedures generally performed in the medical (back) office.
