Social Work

It’s comforting to know there are people in the world looking out for the underrepresented. Social workers come to the aid of individuals, families, and special groups to create a safer and more equitable community. A career in social work would be ideal for those looking to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable populations — better known as your future clients.

Classes in social work prepare students for a future in aiding in the world of human services and behavioral health. You will also learn to differentiate between facts and assumptions to explain the impacts of mental health as well as institutional racism, sexism, and ageism. Envision a career bettering the lives of those affected by war, crime, domestic violence, mental illness, and refugee resettlement. And you can start right now.

Are you ready to make a difference? Begin your rewarding path toward Social Work today.

Why Phoenix College?

Phoenix College’s Social Work curriculum offers students a foundation for a career in counseling, caregiving, and / or social services. Courses range from introductory ethics to overviews in victimology, mental health, crisis management, and substance use disorders. While our Social Work program does not lead to any specific degree,

PC does offer a multitude of courses to satisfy the natural science requirements or electives needed for a certificate or Associate in Science. Graduates may go on to do social work in the areas of mental and behavioral health, child welfare and human services, and criminal justice.
