When you first met Nora Helmer,
she broke all the rules.
The world has been inspired by Nora Helmer since the debut of 1879's A Doll's House. To friends, she lived an enviable life as the wife of a successful banker, and mother of three children. After suffering through years of emotional abuse, Nora gathered her tattered self worth, and departed for a new life, literally slammed the door on everything that once mattered.
Now, see what came next.
A DOLL'S HOUSE, PART 2, a modern play by Lucas Hnath, revisits the original Nora developed by Henrik Ibsen. The year is 1894, and Nora, who has achieved success as a feminist writer, is knocking on the same door she once closed. Written in language that's witty and modern, we learn how Nora has grown during the preceding years, and how she reconciles the relationships she left behind.
