Stigma surrounding mental illness is a silent detriment to America's Latinx community, where people sometimes suffer without access to services. The problem is exacerbated when health organizations struggle to hire staff who are relatable to clients.

Join the discussion.  Hear from community members who've overcome the symptoms of mental illness, and consider how we can empower victims to live fuller lives.

Keynote speaker Alejandro Chavez, grandson of Cesar Chavez, will draw upon his personal experiences of championing the rights of the Hispanic community.  Mr. Chavez has also spent years organizing and running successful political campaigns for Rep. Veronica Escobar (D-TX), Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV), and, most recently, Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-AZ).  The discussion will focus on the theme of belonging, with moderators from both Rio Salado and American Public University System.

The body of an unidentified immigrant is found in the Arizona Desert. In an attempt to retrace his path and discover his story, director Marc Silver and actor Gael Garcia Bernal embed themselves among migrant travelers on their own mission to cross the border, providing rare insight into the human stories which are so often ignored in the immigration debate.
