Join Dr. Karen A. Gould and a panel of graduate students from the University of Nebraska Medical Center for an honest look at the road to grad school. Hear what they wish they had known as undergraduates, what you can start doing now to prepare, what the application process is really like, and what to expect once you get there.
What can data tell us about the places where we live and the health of the people who live there?
Explore how Arizona uses environmental and public health data to uncover connections between our surroundings and our health. Learn how scientists and public health professionals map and analyze issues such as extreme heat, air quality, asthma, and other environmental risks, and see how that information can help communities make better decisions.
Interested in gaining real-world research experience?
Join Kim Thompson, Education and Outreach Specialist at the Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen), as she introduces students to internship opportunities and career pathways in biomedical science. Discover how students can work alongside professional researchers, develop laboratory and technical skills, and contribute to research in genetics, cancer, and other areas of human health.
Discover how genetic engineering of extremophile algae can advance wastewater treatment and sustainable biomanufacturing.
Dr. Peter Lammers will discuss research using heat- and acid-tolerant algae to clean wastewater while supporting industrial biotechnology. Students will see how biology and engineering can work together to address environmental challenges.
Join Dr. Tyrone Benson as he shares his career journey from more than 25 years at Intel to his current role as an engineering professor at Arizona State University. Hear about his experiences in the semiconductor industry, the lessons he learned along the way, and his advice for students considering careers in engineering and technology.
Former Phoenix College MESA student Olneya Fong returns to share how her experiences at PC helped launch her journey into advanced scientific research.
Now studying chemistry at ASU, Olneya is researching next-generation battery technology and has earned national recognition for her work. Hear how she got started, the opportunities she discovered along the way, and what current PC students can do to pursue their own research interests.

STEAM Days '24
An annual signature event at PC, STEAM Days 2024 welcomed over 400 students to engage in immersive learning experiences in the sciences, technology, engineering, mathematics, and the arts. Virtual Expert Panels and the in-person Resource Fair connected students to industry leaders, faculty, and people who are passionate about STEAM.
STEAM Days were more than a learning experience—they were a celebration. Students enjoyed music, food, and giveaways, including limited-edition STEAM shirts. A PC student shared: "It was great seeing so many resources in one place. I made connections I wouldn’t have had otherwise!"
The virtual portion of STEAM Days featured a lineup of impactful panels with leading experts:
Cybersecurity Dwight Ferris from Grand Canyon University shared cutting-edge insights into protecting online integrity.
Quantum Computing Glen and Tanay from Arizona State University delved into the transformative potential of quantum technologies.
Art & STEAM The fusion of creativity and innovation took center stage in the "Brushstrokes of Innovation" panel, highlighting the critical role of arts in advancing STEAM fields.
Student Feedback Participants expressed satisfaction with the panels, with one commenting: "The cybersecurity panel was eye-opening. It’s exciting to see how I can contribute to protecting digital systems in the future!" Another remarked: “Quantum computing seemed so far away, but now I see how accessible it is and how it could change everything.”
Held at Sophomore Square, the Resource Fair provided students with hands-on opportunities to explore internships, projects, and career paths through direct interactions with STEAM organizations and Phoenix College clubs.

- Maricopa County Departments
The fair also showcased Phoenix College’s Honors Club Robotics Club, and more, fostering a sense of campus community and collaboration.
