Federal Work Study

  • You must seek employment and secure a job on campus. Contact Career Services for assistance locating a job.
  • Students who on are Maximum Timeframe are now eligible for FWS based on their need/eligibility.
  • You must be enrolled in a minimum of six (6) credits hours in a semester to receive Federal Work-Study. 
  • Federal Work-Study earning should be monitored by both the employing department and the student to ensure that earnings do not exceed the work-study allocation.
  • You may work up to twenty (20) hours per week.
  • Pay Rate is $12 per hour.
  • Your paychecks are processed bi-weekly and funds earned may be used to pay your educational expenses.
  • Funds and employment positions are limited and are available on a first come first served basis.

  1. Apply for Federal Work-Study by completing the FWS Student Interest Form.
  2. The Financial Aid Office will notify you of your eligibility via your Maricopa email.
  3. If you have been awarded Financial Aid and approved to work on campus as a FWS  employee, please complete the following:
    1. Attend a Virtual Orientation with a Career Service Specialist held every Tuesdays & Thursdays at 12:00 pm at meet.google.com/rnf-hdzr-bwv
    2. View available positions on Maricopa Career Link (MCL) and PipelineAZ (you must register with a userid and password for these sites)
  4. After you have been interviewed and hired your supervisor will notify you when you can begin working.
  1. Complete the FWS Request to Post Positions
  2. After you have interviewed and selected a candidate, please complete the FWS Intent to Hire Form
  3. Once the processing of the 'FWS Intent to Hire Form' has been completed, you will receive an email to submit an 'FWS Student Employment Contract'. The contract must be completed before the student can begin working.
  4. You will be responsible for informing the student when they can begin work.

You can check the status of your award by logging into your Student Center at My.maricopa.edu. NOTE:  You must complete a FASFA. This is a need based award.

You will earn the minimum hourly wage. Your paychecks are processed bi-weekly and funds earned may be used to pay your educational expenses.

After you have secured employment, your supervisor will give you further hiring instructions and provide you with the exact date you may begin working under the FWS Program.  NOTE:  New students must complete a New Hire Packet at Employee Services and receive an Employee ID Number before the Financial Aid Office can initiate the job hire process in HCM. This must be initiated by the supervisor..
