Lia's story: A little breathing room.
Lia is pursuing her associate’s degree in communications at Phoenix College, carries a 3.8 GPA, and takes an active part in student life.
After her father passed away unexpectedly, she took on caring for her grandfather while continuing her studies. This summer, unexpected family bills stretched her budget thin. As fall approached, she worried about covering school expenses alongside her new responsibilities.
One-time bridge support from the PC Student Emergency Fund helped Lia manage immediate expenses and begin the semester feeling prepared and supported.
“I’m working toward my degree while caring for my grandfather, and I want to be able to do both well. This support gave me some breathing room. I’m really grateful there was help available when I needed it,” Lia said.
