Have a business idea, a side hustle, or a solution to a community problem? The Bear’s Den Pitch Competition can help you take the next step.
Phoenix College students from all Fields of Interest can receive training and mentorship, develop their ideas, and compete for up to $9,000 in prizes.
Compete for Prizes
- First Place: $5,000 and eligibility to advance to the MCCCD/ASU district competition
- Second Place: $2,500
- Third Place: $1,500
Is the Bear’s Den for You?
Consider applying if you:
- Have a business idea, no matter how big or small
- Already sell a product or service
- Want to solve a problem in your community
- Dream of working for yourself
- Want to build skills that can help you in any career
You do not need a business degree, previous experience, or a perfect plan. You just need an idea and the determination to develop it.
Eligibility
Applicants must:
- Be a current Phoenix College student
- Be enrolled in at least three credit hours
- Have a business idea or an existing small business
Students from every Field of Interest are encouraged to apply.
What You’ll Receive
The Bear’s Den is more than a competition. Participants will have access to:
- Free workshops covering business plans, financials, and pitch development
- One-on-one mentorship from experienced entrepreneurs and Phoenix College faculty
- Pitch practice and feedback to help you present your idea with confidence
- Networking opportunities with local business and community leaders
- Career-ready skills in communication, planning, problem-solving, and financial decision-making
How It Works
1. Learn About the Competition
Attend an optional information session to learn about the application, competition requirements, workshops, and judging process.
2. Submit Your Application
Complete the Bear’s Den application by February 15, 2027.
3. Develop Your Idea
Selected participants will work with mentors and attend workshops to strengthen their business ideas, financial plans, and presentations.
4. Make Your Pitch
Finalists will present their ideas to a panel of judges during the Bear’s Den Pitch Competition.
About the Bear’s Den Pitch Competition
Phoenix College's Bear’s Den Pitch Competition is part of the Everyday Entrepreneur Venture Fund. The program is offered in partnership with the National Association for Community College Entrepreneurship, Maricopa Community Colleges Foundation, and the Small Business Development Center.
