Calculated Geometry. Artworks by Travis Rice
Calculated Geometry is a survey of charcoal drawings by Phoenix based artist Travis Rice. Rice’s work explores the intersection between traditional drawing techniques and digital technology. His drawings focus on geometric, hard-edge forms that are meticulously rendered in charcoal while incorporating digital 3D modeling software as a central tool in the creative process. Each piece embodies a fusion of hand-drawn and computer-generated aesthetics that demonstrate how he incorporates technology to build on the language of drawing.
Transitions. Artworks by Deborah Hodder and Dyanne Fiorucci-Siders
Since graduating from ASU with an MFA in printmaking, Deborah Hodder’s work has transitioned from drawings to prints to clay and from figurative to abstract. Her show "Unfolding" featured stand-alone monotypes and triptychs where ceramic relief sculptures were flanked by abstract floral prints that together unify and explore the harmony of Earth's flora and fauna. Texture has a strong presence in most of Dyanne Fiorucci’s work. Love of texture developed as a result of visits to her family’s homeland in Italy. She was fascinated with the façade of rare landmarks throughout the country. The natural rough stone quality is included in most of Dyanne’s work. In 2022 Dyanne and Deborah teamed up with an exhibition at the Olney Gallery in Phoenix, AZ. Our work was based on recent abstract work. Oddly enough both of us had switched from years of creating figurative to abstract work. The exhibition was a hit and following our 2022 exhibition we were selected to exhibit work at the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, AZ.
