Panels Event

This exhibition event highlights local artists, comic legend Todd McFarlane
and up-and-coming art students. Tickets for this event are available now.

Phoenix College is drawing on the local comic scene to highlight the opening of the new exhibit “Panels” at the college’s Eric Fischl Gallery on February 10, 2020. The opening reception will feature an interactive artist’s workshops for Phoenix College students, panels with the exhibit’s four primary artists and a keynote by local legend Todd McFarlane.

The festivities start at 3 p.m. with artist workshops, open exclusively to Phoenix College Students. At 4 p.m., exhibit artists Jay Fotos, Ed Luce, Jeff Pina, and Val Hochberg will present their work. A 5 p.m., comic book creator, producer, and entrepreneur Todd McFarlane will present a keynote address. The festivities will close with a reception from 6-8 p.m.

The “Panels” exhibit is intended to highlight the vibrant works of some of the industry’s best comic and sequential artists. It will also provide an educational opportunity for up and coming Phoenix College students to interact with these amazing professional artists. The exhibit will run through March 5.

McFarlane is known for his work on Marvel Comics' Spider-Man franchise, along with creating the "Spawn" and "Venom" characters, comic books and movies. He also produced music videos for Pearl Jam and Korn's, "Freak on a Leash."

This event will have exceptional visual opportunities for the colorful artwork created by these talented local students, along with artist interviews, and a rare opportunity to capture the genius of hearing McFarlane speak in person.

Nestled on top of Phoenix College’s fine arts building, the Eric Fischl Gallery combines panoramic views of downtown Phoenix and some of the most exciting artwork in the Valley. The Gallery routinely features exhibitions of local and national artists along with the works of exciting artists-in-training from Phoenix College. The gallery is named after Phoenix College Alumni and New York City artist Eric Fischl.
