Outstanding Community Service Award

The Phoenix College (PC) Food Pantry and Mobile Food Drive-Thru Distribution serve hundreds of students and the surrounding community, but not without PC faculty and staff volunteers like Marisela Chavez, Miguel Enriquez, and Ambar Guillen.

Over the past year, the number of volunteers for the pantry and the mobile food drive-thru were greatly limited due to COVID-19. Community engagement and community volunteers weren’t able to help serve, so Phoenix College faculty and staff stepped up.

Chavez, Enriquez and Guillen “exemplified extraordinary service and dedication to serving students and the community through the pantry and the mobile drive-thru,” said Student Services Specialist, Sr., Dr. Vashi Worley-Moore. “Our efforts would not have been possible without volunteers like these.”

A ceremony was held to recognize Chavez, Enriquez, and Guillen for their dedication and service to Phoenix College. Each of them received an award for “Outstanding Community Service.”

The PC Pantry is still collecting non-perishable items such as peanut butter, canned meat, oatmeal, and diapers. To make a donation please call 602-285-7231. The pantry hours are Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.
