What is STEAM?
Does it Differ from STEM?

You've probably heard of both STEM and STEAM approaches to learning.  Each movement focuses on problem solving gleaned from cross-disciplinary knowledge of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.  What separates them?

STEAM education is intended to enhance STEM—by integrating Arts Training into this framework.  The goal is to strengthen students' abilities to creatively solve real-world problems.  As industry becomes increasingly automated, the added "A" will help them remain dexterous in the evolving workplace.

STEAM at Phoenix College:

  • Deliver a Life-Changing Learning Experience

  • Advance as a Student-Ready College

  • Provide a Holistic College Experience

  • Cultivate Pathways to a Successful Future

  • Respond to the Needs of our Evolving Community
