WHOSE WORK BROUGHT MIGRANTS OUT OF THE SHADOWS
Saul Flores: The Walk of Immigrants
Mon, Sept. 26 | 2 pm - 4 pm
Bulpitt Auditorium
PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED
Join photojournalist, and lecturer Saul Flores, as he discusses his acclaimed work on the experiences of Latin American migrants.
In 2010, Saul (pronounced sah–ool) documented the lives of thousands of migrants through The Walk of Immigrants. His vivid, first-hand accounts were gleaned from a three-month journey, in which he traveled 5,328 miles on foot, and by hitchhiking. The trip, which extended between Ecuador and Charlotte, NC, required him to traverse nine border crossings, and find shelter in the shadows.
He aims to create a deeper understanding of the struggles, hardships, joy, and hope that immigrants experience on their journey to the United States.
