Technical Requirements 

Students will need a computer, access to the internet via a broadband connection and if Monitor is required, a webcam with microphone. Specific system requirements: 

Operating Systems, Memory, Hardware & Internet 

  • A broadband internet connection
  • Windows: 10, 8, 7, with 75 MB of permanent space on the hard drive
  • Mac: OS X 10.10 or higher with 120 MB of of permanent space on the hard drive (for Mac users Safari must function properly on the computer even if it is not the default browser)
  •  iOS: 7.0+ (iPad only) Details.
  • Adobe Flash Player (for Monitor only)
  • Web camera (internal or external), microphone and broadband internet connection (for Monitor only)

Mobile Devices

 Do not use a smartphone. Tablets other than iPad as specified are not supported. 

Student Steps to Taking an Exam with Respondus® Lockdown + Monitor at Home

  1. Download LockDown Browser at this link: http://www.respondus.com/lockdown/download.php?id=723113063
  2. Start LockDown Browser and navigate to the exam in Canvas:  (You won't be able to access the exam with a standard web browser.)   3. Exam Guidelines: 
    1. Ensure you're in a location where you won't be interrupted
    2. Turn off all mobile devices, phones, etc. 
    3. Clear your desk of all external materials — books, papers, other computers, or devices 
    4. Remain at your desk or workstation for the duration of the test 
    5. If Monitor is required, make sure your webcam with microphone is plugged in or enabled before starting LockDown Browser
    6. LockDown Browser will prevent you from accessing other websites or applications; you will be unable to exit the test until all questions are completed and submitted 
    7. Your webcam and microphone will record you during the test to ensure you're using only permitted resources.
