Student Computing

Student Computing

Phoenix College provides a number of opportunities for students to access computer labs and computing resources so they have access to the tools to help them be successful.  Below is information on the services we have available.

Computer Labs

The general open lab on campus is available in the Fanin Library at the center of campus.  This lab is available during the operating hours of the library, and has a large number of computers for students to use.  To see the current hours, visit the Phoenix College Library web site.

Specific courses and departments may have specialized resources that they make available to students. These will be communicated out from your instructor as needed.

Close2Home (Remote Computing)

Phoenix College provides access to 80 remote computers (40 Windows and 40 Macs) exclusively setup for remote use by students.  These can be accessed from any device with a web browser, including tablets and Chromebooks, allowing students to work from whatever device they have available to them.

To access this service, just visit the Close2Home web site and click on the green bubbles on the map to find an available computer.

Student Device Checkout

Phoenix College has a limited number of devices available for checkout by currently enrolled students for the current semester.  This is a first-come, first-serve program based on available devices.  Once your application is approved, the Information Technology Help Desk will reach out to schedule a pickup date and time.

It is important that after you first apply for a device that you follow any instructions provided via email about your application or the pickup of a device.  We require that the devices be returned at the end of each semester, or you will be charged for the device on your student account.
